What is Taste Test

Demystifying Wine
We know how daunting it can be when faced with an imposing wall of wine in a supermarket aisle or a long, intimidating list of products in a restaurant or pub. Wine is confusing!

Recently there have been several attempts to help consumers understand what a wine is going to taste like before you purchase. There have been style guides in supermarkets that measure the sweetness of white wines or the power of reds, but while they tell you a little bit more about an individual product, they fall short of matching the taste of the wine to your personal flavour profile.

Relying on grape varieties such as Pinot Grigio or Merlot to try and guess what a wine will taste like is also tricky. Major international grape varietals can be used to create many different types of wines. Knowing the grape alone is not enough to help you find a wine you will enjoy – Merlot for example can be used to make light, fresh fruity reds, as well as being a key ingredient for many very intense wines from Bordeaux.
